The courthouse is located in Denton, Texas, and fronts on 1450 East McKinney Street (FM426), Denton, Texas, 76202, just west of the Detention Center at intersection of Woodrow/Audra and McKinney.   Dallas drivers not familiar with Denton, may want to take Highway 288 exit (east), and continue north on 288, until you approach intersection of McKinney Street, and take a left. Continue west on McKinney until you reach intersection of Woodrow/Audra and McKinney. After you pass through intersection you will note Detention center on your left, and next the New Denton County Courthouse.

Drivers from the McKinney area, may desire to commute using US 380, while those living in Denton and surrounding northern areas, that are familiar with the street layout, will want to use Elm, with a right on Elm Street, or your other favorite route.

Parking is free on all sides of the Courthouse, but the only entrance for the public is located at the front, facing the main drive. Currently, the District Clerk is located on the ground floor. With Deed of Records located directly across the lobby from the District Clerk. The District Court rooms are located as follows:

All of the courts request litigants, attorneys, and support personnel to be appropriately dressed in “Sunday” clothes. No shorts are allowed at anytime. The courthouse strictly enforces a “No Smoking” city ordinance, while in the county buildings. Pagers and cell phones should be turned off or set not to make an audible noise in the court room. Failure to observe these rules in the courtroom may subject one to delay of proceedings and/or contempt.

Denton County conducts a search of all persons entering the courthouse using walk through metal detectors and x-ray devices for hand carried items. Be prepared on entering to place keys, cell phones, change, and pagers in tray. Security personnel will ask you operate your electronic devices to insure they are genuine. Please be reminded that long blade pocket knives and mace like sprays are considered weapons, and may be taken up by the security.
